Information Technology (IT) Series for Legal Professionals (Advanced Series)

The Advanced - Information Technology (IT) for Legal Professionals Course (on-demand) serves as an overview and essential primer of the many facets of information technology and the legal obligations for legal professions as they become engaged in the eDiscovery of ESI.

To fully understand how the law and technology interconnect, eDiscovery practitioners need a foundation in "electronically stored information" (ESI) and how it relates to eDiscovery legal issues. This Course is designed to provide computer ESI instructional content to enable you to be able to competently discern and address the legal electronic information issues as they arise in your cases.

The purpose of this Course is to provide a basic understanding of how electronic data is created and stored, the different types of "electronically stored information" (ESI), computer forensics, locating ESI from different sources and locations, and managing it using computer technology. Understanding the IT infrastructure will enable legal professionals to apply eDiscovery legal mandates whhen requesting and producing ESI while avoiding sanctions.

The primary difference between the "advanced" and "basic" Information Technology (IT) for Legal Professionals Courses are the length of the videos and additional readings. The Advanced IT Course is approximately 10 hours of video and the Basic IT Course is 4 hours of video. The critical issues under both series are covered, though in more detail in the "advanced" series.

The course includes a series of video programs, readings, quizzes. The Course is available for Certificate of Completion on Advanced Information Technology for Legal Professionals, and is CLE eligible.
